How I Met Your Mother: Last Time In New York

Oh my perfect show, you get better and better every week. You make me laugh, cry and scream with your plot twist endings, and naturally because of my emotions I scream at the sentiment of everything. Tonight the third episode aired and it was perfect so much was happening but it was a strong episode. It was funny, heartfelt and dropped a bombshell at the end. It was everything HIMYM used to be for most but still is for me. I'm sitting here thinking wow that was only episode three we still have so many more. But on the other hand WOW that was episode three of a FINAL season, ugh. Let's dive into this glorious episode in which not one single thing made me upset, which might be new.

What Worked:
  1. Everything was Barney and Robin and Nothing Else Hurt: These two I don't even know where to begin or how to continue. They are by far two of the most developed characters on the show, from where they were in the pilot to where they are now.. the character growth over eight years has been fantastic. I loved how they just acted engaged, it was fluffy and cute and sometimes I had to fan myself because it was getting real. The nicknames were precious but I caught myself laughing because in Bagpipes when they had the nicknames Barnstomer and Ro Ro, Ted was so mad because he knew Robin hated nicknames. Looks like she just hated his nicknames because she created R-Train and B-Nasty and nothing will ever be the same again. Their banter is what makes them work, the running ring bear gag will not get old, contrary to what I've seen on tumblr, it'll still be funny 5 episodes from now. It was so nice and reassuring to know that they were all in. This isn't a five year deal.. this is a sixty years and beyond, assuming their characters are between say 35 and 38 because Ted turned 30 in season 3 and Barney was already there. Barney and Robin plan on growing old together and still being hot for each other which keeps the shipper hearts going. I won't lie and say that some of the flash forwards in s7 and 8 had the fandom concerned with missing rings or Neil trying so hard to sit on his left hand and not make it look awkward. It was nice to know that the writers do not have any intentions of pulling the rug out from under us.. ((I hope)).

  2. Ted and Lily: One of the most underrated friendships on the show in my humble opinion along with Robin x Marshall as well as Barney x Lily.. but more on that later. Lily has always been the voice of reason she has always been the one who made Ted really think about what he wanted in life. They've had their differences but they are best friends. And the speech Lily gave to Ted had me in tears it was beautiful and also painful because you really see the journey of Ted and his heartache. A lot of people and I think I've said this before tear Ted down because of his on going feelings towards Robin.. which sure got redundant but you know the hero wins in the end. He has to go through all this stuff to truly find himself. The road is long but in the journey is the destination. The Ted and Lily scenes reminded me of late season one when Lily wanted to go off to San Francisco to be her own person and Ted convinced her to stay. Although she went she still came back and her and Marshall are now stronger than ever. It was just an amazing dynamic to see.

  3. Flashbacks: Episode 3 and we are finally seeing the bar and the apartment those quintessential pieces of the story that we have all been dying to see. I thought the flashbacks were hilarious and perfectly fit into the story line. Ted and the Empire State Building had me howling, as well as the graffiti art because as I was watching I was thinking: "I would do the same thing."  When I first saw the Lily and Robin sneak peek, I had so many Duel feelings when Marshall and Ted were sword fighting and they stabbed Lily. I was so excited when they did a flashback to the scene from season 1, it was nostalgic to say the least.

  4. Marshall and Daphne: Last week I was bored and quite skeptical of the whole thing but this week I found so much humor in the roadtrip and working Daphne in conversations with Lily. And when Lily punished the die hard Vikings fan in Marshall and made him wear the Packers gear I thought I was going to fall out of my chair. It was great, I can't wait for Marshall to get back and mix in with the gang though. I miss Marshmallow and Lily pad.

  5. The Cliffhanger: Probably the best thing to happen to this episode or any episode really in a long time and let me tell you why. A fair warning that the Barney Stinson stan in me will come out *ahem* ... this cliffhanger was important and redeemed Something Old for probably every Barney Stinson fan. When Robin was on her whole "locket" quest and called Barney who was playing laser tag with his soon to be father in law, he seemed to busy for her. Which propped the Ted/Robin scene, which do not get me wrong was beautiful, I loved it maybe because a sliver of my heart will always ship the romance. But it made it seem like Barney did not care about her enough to stop what he was doing and go see her. Which if you have been watching since the beginning of the Barney/Robin relationship, you know this is not true. In 3x16 he comforted her when Dawson Leery Simon broke up with her again and when he acted like a complete jerk in 5x17 he sent Robin on the super date instead. Even outside of Barney/Robin, he does so stupid stuff but he always tries to be there for his friends. So yes Something Old seemed very out of character, so when Barney blurts out in the last 30 seconds of the episode that he saw Robin and Ted in Central Park, I was like thank you Carter and Craig for sticking to plot and not swaying from who the character has become.
Favourite Quotes:
  • "Sixty Years... man was the last time you think they had sex?" "Not since the Maple Leafs won the Cup.... 1967." - Barney and Robin ((the dig at my sad hockey team was perfect))
  • "Say goodbye to the Empire State Building? .... Bro." "What sometimes I go... and talk to her about life." - Lily and Ted
  • "You know what would prove that we are not some boring old married couple? Doing it somewhere we're not supposed to..." - Robin
  • "I guess we could try the backdoor? ... Of our suite, our suit has a backdoor." - Robin
  • "I almost killed my wife Ted, I almost killed my wife!" - Marshall
  • "We are trying to do it somewhere naughty... that's not what I mean! That's never what I mean!" - Robin
  • "Oh my... I found Waldo." - Robin
  • "You wrote down all these things to say goodbye to but so many are good things, but why not say goodbye to all the bad things? Say goodbye to all the times you felt lost, to all the times it was a no instead of a yes, to all the scrapes and bruises... to all the heartache. Say goodbye to all the things you want to say goodbye to one last time." - Lily

It was a fantastic episode and maybe my favoruite of the season so far, although 9x02 had that Ted and the Mother scene so.. hmmm. Speaking of which, I kind of missed Cristin's face. The mother really does not fit into the storyline yet until maybe the Saturday of the wedding which is the rehearsal dinner. But we shall see, I am so excited for this season to continue. Thanks everyone for reading and hit up the comment box for your thoughts and opinions on Last Time in New York.

The Bravermans are back!!

Ahhhh the lovely sounds of my incoherent sobs could only mean one thing....PARENTHOOD IS BACK. And what a wonderful thing it is! Now I (Jenna) started this fantastically glorious show last year, so I am a new hoodrat (that's the fandom name..how awesome is that?!) But boy am I glad I found it! Let me just say, if you aren't watching this show just go right ahead and punch yourself in the face, then go start it and thank me later :) Parenthood has everything you could ever want from a TV show. Everything. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll relate, you'll cry, you'll love every character, oh did I mention you'll cry? Yeah this show is notoriously known for getting your emotions in a choke hold causing all of America to collectively weep together. And it's wonderful
Thursday marked the season 5 premiere (on a new date/time) after about an 8 month hiatus so let's chat about it shall we?

1. Crosby/Jasmine/Jabbar & new baby Braverman!:  We left off in season 4 with the craziest of the Braverman clan finding out he's going to be a Dad for the 2nd time! The episode begins with Jasmines water breaking 3 weeks early and the couple is extremely unprepared. A little while later, a new addition to the Braverman clan was born. Their story this episode was the most comedic. They dove into the stuggles that ensue when a new baby comes into the picture. The overbearing family, lack of sleep, and Crosby was dealing with a lack of connection to his new little girl. Not to mention they hadn't thought of a name for her yet! I thought this whole thing was hilarious and very fun to watch! They didn't glorify having a baby by any means, and I like that they went the realistic route! In the end after much discussion of first names and possibly hyphenated last names, they decided on Aida Braverman. (sounds like I eat a Braverman tbh...I'm not a fan lol). But this is going to be so much fun to watch play out the rest of the season! Loved that we got our first big Braverman family scene too!

2. Sarah/Amber/Drew: Sarah finally has her own plaaaace!! Praise! Homegirl was sleeping on her parents pull out couch for 4 years. Now she's a super in an apartment building! Go girl! Mama Sarah is having trouble with Drew's lack of communication now that he's in college and she goes to Amber for to vent. This was SO cute, and I was cracking up with her trying to figure out how to Emoji! Curious to find out how/when she finds out Hank is back in town! (TEAM MARK!). But let's talk about probably the most important part of the episode. Amber and Ryan thoooooo. I was tear free all episode until that God forsaken proposal! I ship the shit out of Ryber and I'm so happy about this! But I am also a bit concerned. He struggled last season with PTSD sooo I'm wondering where he's at with that. But I'm also still squealing!

3. Adam/Kristina/Max/Nora: My sweet precious little famillllyyyyy. It's no secret they're my favorite Bravermans. I just love everything about this family! They were at the center of the season last year with Kristina battling breast cancer (and Monica Potter giving one the BEST acting performances of last year.) After facing her own mortality, it seems that Kristina has an entirely new outlook on life. "Carpe Diem" was definitely the motto this episode, and I have a feeling it's going carry them throughout the rest of season 5. Opportunity to put "Carpe Diem" into action came knocking when Bob Little showed up, asking Kristina to help him with his campaign to run for Mayor. But instead of taking him up on it, she decided she's going to run for Mayor herself! Which I am absolutely okay with! I'd vote for her for President of the United States tbqh! But Adam is concerned she's jumping into something so major too quickly. While I understand Adam's concern, I love that Kristina just wants to live every moment and not hold back. Which shows such great character growth. The old Kristina would not have taken this risk. This is the start of a very interesting story line! I think we're going to see Kristina tested in many ways and see if she can actually "sieze the day" like she wants to. I'm sure it's going to take Adam some time to get on board with everything as well. As for Max, I absolutely love his budding friendship with Hank. Both are just hilarious together and Max & Ray have great chemistry. I'm glad the writers decided to explore that. And don't even get me started on sweet precious little Nora! She's just the cutest little nugget on TV. I love getting to see her grow up right before our eyes!

4. Joel/Julia/Sydney/Victor: It seems they really settled in well together and are now in a good groove! Which was great to see. But not sure it's going to last :-/ Seems stormy clouds are ahead for the Grahams. They didn't really dive into much this first episode, but it's clear Julia is struggling with still not having a job. And Joel getting this 2 year construction project is definitely not going to help things. (not to mention this lady "Pete"....) I love that Joel is always putting Julia first. He's such a sweet heart and doesn't want to be insensitive to Julia's struggle, but also knows he needs to take this job in order to support his family. I am VERY glad they are giving him something to do this season. I love that we get to see a little bit more of who Joel is. (Which is utterly perfect tbh!)

Favorite quotes:
  • "I'm sure someday you're gonna be the best thing that ever happened to me but right now I really hate you." -Crosby
  • "A ha! Headin' on down to funky town? The Braverman testosterone is potent and wonderful thing. Gotta keep that fire in the loins son! It's like a rock & roll song, like the stones! FIRE IN THE LOINS!" -Zeek
  • "I'm just in it for the sugar." - Max
  • Adam: "He tried to get her to play with his blocks!" Kristina: "He didn't get the blocks in...the holes...I can't make the metaphor work." - Kristina
  • "Isn't it fun that I live in the neighborhood now? You can show me how to Emoji things!" - Sarah
All in all I absolutely loved the first episode!!! I'm so happy we get to spend 22 episodes with the Bravermans. Not sure how I feel about this new date/time. I know the ratings probably won't be very good against Scandal & Greys but my loyalty is, and always will be, with Parenthood :) Hope you guys enjoyed the episode as much as I did!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: Dazzles Our Tuesday Night

And all was right in the world, as the Whedonverse continues to captivate the audience and make fantastic television. I have been watching Marvel movies for as long as I can remember, and have been indulging myself in the Whedonverse for about the past five months now. Watching the Avengers and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog on a loop. I've also been taking a trip to the 90's and watching the most famous Whedon cult hit "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and I'm currently working my way through season seven as we speak. So I knew what the Whedon's could do and was so excited for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, it was one of the most anticipated shows of the fall and did not disappoint. The episode was fantastic and there was nothing that didn't hold my attention or leave me upset. Except maybe the lack of Maria Hill but that shouldn't be shocking coming out of my mouth. Let's get discussing now shall we:

  1. The Return of Maria Hill: My girl is back and she was fantastic. Maria is only in The Avemgers for a short amount of time so it was nice to see a little bit more depth to the character, in again a short amount of time. We learned that she has her own office in a classified location and perhaps has some secrets in her bag that Coulson doesn't know about. I am hoping these secrets will cause her to return in the future and hopefully gain a permanent roll on the show, once Cobie is done with HIMYM. Maria was the perfect person to re-introduce Agent Coulson who we know was "killed" by Loki in the Avengers.. or so we thought.

  2. COULSON LIVES: Can I get a hallelujah? I will be the first to admit that I cried like a small child in the theater because I believed he was actually dead. When the S.H.I.E.L.D idea was being thrown around I was so excited because A: it meant Phil wasn't dead and B: it meant more Marvel / Whedon productions. Turns out Nick Fury made the Avengers believe Phil was dead so they would become more motivated and defeat Loki (genius). I thought Phil was the king of sass, it's so great to have these multi-layered characters who have a government job but aren't robotic, they have spunk and good comedic timing for an action/drama genre show. At any moment he could switch and be a hard ass in order to do his job and help protect the people. By the way did everyone see him do the Matrix move to avoid getting hit by the door, because it was epic.

  3. Marvel Callbacks: Any Marvel fan was probably having nerdgasms throughout the pilot with all the references they made. A great show has great continuity so the callbacks were like music to my ear. Also the pilot begins not to long after the Battle of New York had taken place.

  4. Fitz and Simmons: Every time they were on my screen I was like "ugh, make out already." I hope it happens and one of them doesn't end up dead. It always happens to me in the Whedonverse. Fitz and his accent need to stay forever, you can tell he is a genius and I was left wondering if he created the robots that analyzed the room. What a good way to avoid having to touch a dead body, get a robot to do it. Simmons seems to be the central brains of the duo and the one to help keep Fitz calm. As soon as she referenced Hermione Granger I was like, you're in kiddo.

  5. Skye: She stole the screen for me. At first I was worried she was going to betray S.H.I.E.L.D and stay with the Rising Tide. It's too early to know whether she will cross them in the future. She had about ten minutes to decide whether she was all in or not and by the looks of things she's here to stay and I say bring it on. Not only is she intelligent and a great computer hacker, she also is quick on her feet and the chemistry between her and Ward was electric. I'm hoping for more dynamic between those two characters, and when Maria Hill returns I would love to see those two characters interact.

Favourite Quotes:
  • “Sorry that corner was really dark and I couldn't help myself… I think there’s a bulb out.” - Agent Coulson
  • "I don't think Thor is technically a God." "Oh you haven't been near his arms." - Agent Hill & Agent WarD
  • "With great power comes... a ton of weird crap, that you are not prepared to deal with." - Skye"
  • When you get back, I'll show you my thing... I mean.... my hardware.... my equipment!" - Fitz
  • "She might as well be one of those sweaty cosplay girls crowding around Stark tower." "What... It was one time." - Agent Ward and Skye
Unanswered Questions:
  • Is Maria Hill headed to Tahti and what secret is she keeping from Coulson?
  • How many more people are there with the same technology on their arms as Michael?
  • Why didn't Agent Maye want to join the field again?
  • Who created the technology used on Michael?

*Jenna's Cornerrrrr!**
Hi all!! WOW! This is so cool! I feel so official now! Look Mom I'm blogging! haha okay im done... annnnnywho, I am new to the Whedonverse! I'm not much of a super hero nerd or anything like that so SHIELD wasn't exactly on my radar of new shows to watch. Obviously Kianna convinced me and I decided to give it a shot. I really really enjoyed it! I was definitely a bit confused, but i definitely want to continue and see where it goes!

  • Love the characters so far. Sky is a badass and I love her!
  • I liked how they mixed comedy in there as well and it's not so super serious.
  • Some of the references went over my head, like I said I've never seen any of those Marvel movies like avengers (I know. I suck!) lol but it's on my list!
  • There's a few good lookin' dudes! That's never a bad thing :)
  • So far I really like all the characters and I am definitely curious about everyone's back story!

Clearly Kianna is much better at this then I am, lol. This is one of her big shows so I just wanted to add a little smidge :)

Hopefully our questions will be answered in the future. The episode was fantastic after watching it twice everything seemed to click in more and more. Jenna and I cannot wait for next week and for the entire series to unfold in front of our eyes. If the pilot was this amazing we can only expect the series to be the same. What did you guys think of the pilot? Who is your favourite character? And which question do you want to know the answer too first?

New Girl: Nerd

I know I know jumping in on week 2 is bad but I forgot that New Girl started last week and we hadn't had this blog made yet so my bad. But a quick recap on last week before we jump into this week. We left off with Schmidt had to choosing between Cece and Elisabeth and he decides to choose both, and we were left sitting here shaking our heads and wondering why Schmidt why? Nick and Jess decided to not uncall their relationship and be 100% all in. The season opener basically shows them being adorable and acting like a married couple and the fandom rejoices. I really don't know if there's anyone who doesn't like Nick and Jess and if they do I ask you this question... why?! That's the extremely short cliff notes version of what happened last week. Let's talk about this week though shall we:

What We Loved:
  1. Nick and Jess: So far they continue to prove that dating friends can work out. It's great to see this couple having fun and being so carefree together. Nick helping Jess fit in with the weird and somewhat lame teachers at Jess' new school. Nick eventually realizing that it was wrong of him to try and change Jess to fit in and she was perfect the way she was. And the audience swooned. It's safe to say that this is just the honeymoon of the relationship until real drama comes into their lives. One of the best moments of the episode was, when Jess was hungover and Schmidt and Winston thought Nick had killed her. So they started singing to wake her up so she would not be late for work. Shout out to the writers for the singing parallel from the pilot when Nick Coach and Schmidt sing to cheer Jess up after her date stood her up.
  2. Winston and the Cat: Winston is one of the most underrated characters on the show and he's just so full of warmth and love. It broke my heart that Daisy cheated on him, however 95% of the time I think to myself oh Winston you can do better than London Tipton but nonetheless. The cat was so freaking cute and when Winston told Daisy he was keeping the cat because she broke his heart, I was so proud of him. The show frankly needs more Winston, the season premiere was amazing as well with him and his puzzle. It was easy to relate to, we all have something we love but aren't great at. I know I do.
What We Didn't Love:
  1. The Love Triangle Continues: Episode two and I'm already over it. Schmidt needs to pick a woman before he loses both of them. Both women are in love with him and he loves different parts aspects of them. Elisabeth being his college sweetheart loved him when he was bigger and not many people did. She brings out that carefree personality in him that he keeps bogged down. Schmidt is so uptight and she makes him let loose. Cece and Schmidt had a dysfunctional nonexclusive relationship, which was what made it work. They had fun together and at first it was a purely physical, feelings developed for Cece. Schmidt was more committed in the relationship than Cece and she broke his heart. The girls will catch on soon and Schmidt will be left alone. He needs to figure it out soon.
Favourite Quotes:
  • "You're Nick Miller's girl, you're my old lady." - Nick
  • "Did you kill Jess?" - Schmidt and Winston
  • "You smoke? Nah, just kidding. But man, that'd be cute if you did." - Winston
  • "An eye for an eye, Nick." "A cat for a cat." "But what's the other cat?" "My heart." - Winston and Nick
  • "I just wanted to say, I would have noticed yeah." - Nick
What did you guys think of the episode? Are you team Elisabeth, Cece or single Nick? Do you believe there is trouble ahead for Nick and Jess? Let us know in the comments and enjoy your television premiere week

How I Met Your Mother: Coming Back Recap

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT

It was so amazing to receive two episodes this week, on one hand yay! Sixty minutes of quality television, on the other hand boooo there's only twenty two episodes left. Until we all cry our eyes out and someone tweets a kick starter link for a movie or spin off. I give it like six months after the series finale, and if I don't see it I will start it myself. With only fifty four hours until the wedding almost everyone out of the core five almost six has made it to the beautiful Farhampton Inn. Here's another breakdown of what worked, didn't really work and what quotes and moments made us go awwwwwwh.

What We Loved:

  1. Good Ol' Minnesota Marshall: It's no surprise that Marshall is one of the sweetest gentlemen to ever grace our television screens. He is extremely nice to everyone around him unlike New Yorker s, and if you didn't know he wasn't from Minnesota,  he could have been the Canadian one, am I right? By not wanting to sabotage Daphne the universe sends Marshall a blessing and that blessing is Herm and he is AWESOME. After almost refusing to drive the monstorsity due to his environmental backgroud, he hands the keys over to Daphne who swears she will purchase Marvin a car seat and return. While the audience yells out Marshall no, Marshall Eriksen fashion he puts his faith in Daphne to return with the car. And boy did I ever clap when she did.

  2. Drunky Lily: We've experience drunk Lily before, so it was great to bring her back. The running gag with Linus brought on the laughs and her sexual comments about Marshall kept the comedic energy going. She was 100% done with everyone at the table and in that moment, I could relate to a dozen situations in which I felt the exact same. When she dropped the bomb about James I was certainly nervous about how Barney would react but more on that later.

  3. The Return of James Stinson: As a huge Wayne Brady fan having him back as James was perfection. I was however worried about the divorce secret and how Barney would react but we'll get to that. Neil and James play off each other well and I think they make great brothers. They make you believe they grew up with each other and know everything about one another. They have a great connection and it comes out on screen.

  4. The Character Development of Barney Stinson: Barney has had the biggest character growth out of all the characters, everyone knows this or at least they should. In the first few seasons the audience always wondered why did Ted even keep him around? In the beginning of the show Barney was a womanizer and the idea of commitment and marriage was a joke to him. He believed he would end up alone or be the next Hugh Hefner. His relationship with Robin was the first time he had fallen in love in years and it terrified him and that's why it didn't work at the beginning their egos were too large to learn to compromise because they hadn't grown up yet. After reverting to his hold ways and dating women in between, the constant push and pull with Robin was always there. He later found Quinn. After that didn't work he truly believed he would never trust anyone again. Until Robin entered his life again. Sure he made some mistakes in season 8 but he made up for them with grand gestures. He proved to Robin that he was a changed man and a one woman kind of guy. Barney is 100% all in and it's because of Robin that he believes in true love. His character should not be overlooked or disregarded because he has grown up, his character should be rewarded.

  5. Ted and the Mother: I've watched this episode twice and could not see my computer screen both times because I was honestly crying so hard. Our first flash forward scene between these two characters was everything I day dreamed about this summer. A lot of people were nervous about how Josh and Cristin would connect and some people were outraged about the casting choice. And by some people I mean the like 2% of people who probably changed their minds when this episode aired. When we got the behind the scenes Entertainment Weekly photo-shoot and Josh placed a tender kiss on Cristin's head, I knew that they would bring perfection to their characters. Their chemistry was explosive, they are individually two of the cutest people in the entire world so together it's just too much. We know that they are dating and return to the Farhampton Inn exactly one year later to the day. I am so excited to see more interaction between the two of them. I know it's called How I Met Your Mother and it was originally just supposed to end with them meeting, as a hopeless romantic and investor in fictional relationships, I'm so happy the show changed their minds.
What We Didn't Exactly Love
  1. The Bro-Stinson Flashback: There have been some crazy flashbacks throughout the show from the early 1900's displaying history. My personal favoruites being: The Sexless Inn Keeper and The Bro Code. They were short, funny and to the point. This one felt awkward to me like I understood the curse and why it related to the story line but I wasn't a fan. Also the guitars through me off but I realized Barney has an exaggerated mind.

Favourite Quotes
  • "Can I just say five things to you.. WHAT.. IS... WRONG... WITH.. SORRY.. SIX.. YOU?" - Robin
  • "I hate everyone at this table." - Lily
  • "I don't need them to make me believe in true love anymore. I've got you now." - Barney
  • "Hey beautiful!" - Ted
  • "You Picked A Real Winner Mosby." - The Mother

Back to back episodes of awesomeness I cannot wait to see what's in store for us next week, thank you so much for reading my posts and taking this crazy ride with me. Please comment below and let me know what you thought of tonight's episodes.

How I Met Your Mother: The Locket Recap

SPOILER ALERT: TURN BACK NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT.

My week of television kicked off with a bang and I have never been more satisfied by a premiere of a long running television show in my life, so kudos to the writers. How I Met Your Mother delighted the long time fans of nine years or the short time fans of eight months like myself with hilarious and heart warming television. Let's talk about what we loved, didn't exactly love and breakdown the best quotes and moments that made us  go awwwwww. I can guarentee you that 83% of those moments will be Barney Stinson adjacent (see what I did there).

As a Barney and Robin shipper if the title of this episode hasn't had you squirming in your computer chair since we found out in July, you are lying to yourself. At the end of 8.24 we know that Ted unknowingly had the Locket this entire time and wants to give it back to Robin as the perfect wedding gift. Lily Aldrin, the voice of the Swarkles fandom pleas Ted to be careful. With 55 hours until the wedding each of the six important members in this story are headed to the Farhampton. They all encounter some hills to get over before they get there.

What We Loved:
  1. The Ted and Lily road trip: Theodore is honestly the biggest dork in the world and his diabolical plan to drive Lily crazy and make her take the train was genius and a great segway to meet the mother.

  2. Everything Barney and Robin: If you follow me on twitter you know where my heart lies and these two are everything. When the sneak peeks came out a few weeks ago the entire incest thing had everyone thrown for a loop, we tried to keep come and not believe it. Given Carter and Craig's GOT obsession I knew there would be a reference to it. It was great comedy, Neil and Cobie were fantastic,  playing off of each other with the faces and the noises. The telepathic conversation in which they plotted to kill Ranjit was great. When they discovered they weren't blood related and shared some tender moments in the cab it was, everything we had ever wanted. My entire timeline was either going awwwwwwh or typing with joy in explicit caps or both.

  3. The Mother Is EVERYTHING: We finally got her on our screens for more than 30 seconds and she was delightful. Cristin Milioti displayed instantly why she was the perfect actress to play Ted's wife. We learned a lot about in her in only a short amount of time which was great. She is as big of a nerd or maybe even a bigger nerd than Ted, only time will tell. She is extremely nice and loving towards strangers and makes some banging cookies. Her interaction with Lily brought us great joy as well, as Ted's best girl friend I think it was important for them to unknowingly interact first. Considering Lily likes to break Ted and his women up, the mother already has scored some cool points with Lily and the audience.

  4. The Canadian Gags: As a Canadian I think I find the digs to be the funniest things on the show because 83% of the time they pick the most ridiculous stereotypes and exaggerate them, and I literally laugh every time. (We did have one good episode back in s1). Plot twist of this episode was finding out Peculiar Jacques is Robin's Uncle.

  5. Ranjit: Literally my favourite secondary character ever, he never fails to make me laugh with his pulling over lines his pervy comments. Shout-out to the writers for the continuity with the divider in the car.

  6. Ted's Gift: One of the most heartfelt moments in the episode for me was when Ted gave Robin the photograph. I'm not sure if it's because I realized they'd all been friends for eight years and had come so far or that I could have been watching this for eight years, and have missed out. Nonetheless I cried like a baby, so thank you writers for that. This was also Ted's way of saying he was letting go, or so I thought.

What We Didn't Exactly Love

  1. Marshall and Daphne: I thought all the stuff on the plane was extremely funny and them getting kicked off of the plane. But for me it went on for too long? And considering how long it takes to drive from Minnesota to New York I fear that it will go on for a lot longer. I won't judge to harshly, Jason Segel could lean against a wall and i'd still watch because I love him that much.
  2. Barney and Robin and the Kids Conversation: Or rather lack there of ... so we know Robin can't have kids which makes me sad but I'll learn to deal with it. But in the car Robin said to Barney "Well we know we can't have kids..." and Barney said "Well if we did.." Right at that moment I was like they haven't had the conversation yet. A part of me is glad because I want to see it emotionally played out on my screen. I still have chills from Cobie in season 7 when she breaks down in Ted's arms after the whole Christmas lights scene. So if I can get the conversation to happen so I can see Cobie nail it that's what I want. The other part of me is like shouldn't they have talked about this last season? I mean they got engaged in 8x12 so watching it live there was 12 episodes for that conversation to come up. So yeah it needs to happen. If Carter and Craig are somehow reading this the last show I was invested in One Tree Hill pulled a miraculous child birth out of thin air when the character was told two seasons before she would never bare children. I could be down with this, I'm just saying.
  3. Ted Heads To LA: Oh Theodore Evelyn Mosby what are you trying to do to me. I love Ted so much but he frustrates me to no end but I think it's because we know his endgame and he doesn't so it makes sense to get frustrated when he does dumb things. Realizing that these dumb things lead him to meeting the love of his life calms the anger. I was SO happy that he gave Robin the picture instead of tracking down the locket until dun dun dunnnnn they flashbacked to four days earlier and he had gotten on a plane to LA. Which by the way, mistake me if I'm wrong but didn't he only find out about the locket the day before he left New York for Farhampton? When did he have time to fly to LA?

Where HIMYM Left Off: Something New

With just over an hour until the premiere of the ninth and final season of How I Met Your Mother let's quickly refresh ourselves and prepare for the beginning of the end... too soon I know.

Barney & Robin

  • With their wedding weekend approaching the dynamic duo were finishing up last minute wedding things like rehearsing for their first dance. [I can't wait to see what song they choose]
  • Their hopes of a romantic evening before heading to Farhampton is squashed by the couple from hell so in "Swarkles" fashion they decide to plot and scheme against the couple and pull a Mosby.
  • While sharing a tender moment on the bench we hear Robin utter the words "I love you too Barney Scherbatsky" for the first time that wasn't "You're an idiot" or "The man I fell in love with." So umm yeah 911 I'm still dead from May.
  • Barney and Robin are enthusiastically all packed and walk hand in hand to their car, and prepare to embark on their journey to Farhampton which we know dark clouds linger ahead.

Marshall & Lily
  • Marshall and Lily were packing tp leave for Rome after the wedding, where Lily was slated to start a job as an art consultant for the Captain.
  • Marshall headed to Minnesota to let Judy spend time with Marvin.
  • As we know from the flashbacks in 8x08 Marshall becomes a judge, well in 8x24 he gets the judgeship call and must now tell Lily they can't go to Rome.
  • Meanwhile Lily stays in New York to help Ted deal with his complicated feelings towards Robin.

Teddy Westside
  • Ted has just finished the renovations on his future home in West Chester and Lily is the first one to see
  • He drops the bomb that he is moving to Chicago because he wants to start over and find the love of his life. (patience my dear Theodore, patience)
  • Lily realizes that he is trying to get away because a part of Ted still clings to this idea of Robin being the one. But you know the pilot he called her "Aunt Robin" so you can kiss that goodbye my dear.
  • Now before you feel instant anger about the point above, I do love Ted and Robin the early relationship and now the friendship okay, great moving on.
  • Ted and Lily talk about the Central Park incident and the Locket and Ted realizes that he has the locket at home and wants to give to Robin.
  • BE CAREFUL TED. We are all Lily Aldrin at this time.
  • As Ted and Lily embark to Farhampton, Ted does not want to draw attention away from the wedding. And says he will leave early after the wedding and take the train back into the city.

A Little Way's Down The Road... aka in 60 Minutes
Good luck my fellow himym fans and may the odds be ever in your favour.
Grab some tissues and get ready for the mother of all seasons.

Television Worth Talking About

Well hello everybody if you are reading this we already love you. Um, I Kianna had this idea to create a television review blog because I, A: watch a lot more television than you want to know [x] and B: I hope to be a correspondent on E! who writes about good television and complains about the Emmy's not being hosted by Neil Patrick Harris every year. As a sophomore in college it has taken me a long time to discover my true calling in life, up until freshman year I wanted to be the next pediatric surgeon like, Arizona Robbins except with two working legs and less emotional baggage, anyway I have recently discovered that television and film is my calling. Whether it's writing, directing, producing or even editing I'm prepared to attempt it all.

If you don't know Jenna you should get to know her. She is one of the most amazing and kind hearted people, who has ever touched my life. We are best friends and basically like sisters. Our friendship was introduced because of the little show that could One Tree Hill, which coincidentally is celebrating it's 10 year anniversary since the pilot aired back on September 23rd, 2003. Let's all pause a take a moment to remember such a beautiful show [x].  This is the ultimate reason as to why I created this blog and proposed the idea to Jenna. We communicated via twitter and gushed everyday about our love for Nathan & Haley, we then went to One Tree Hill filming together in Wilmington, North Carolina back in the summer of 2011 then again in October of the same year and we have been close ever since. By watching these shows and reviewing them I not only get to work on my writing skills but Jenna and I get to communicate with fans from all over the world. People watch television everyday, we know that. What's different now then say 15 years ago  is people BOND over television. We connect with not only the characters and the story-lines on screen but with the people who watch the same shows as we do and feel the same way as we do.

This blog will be full of television, fun and probably some bad jokes on my end. We will be talking about what we liked in each episode, what we didn't like, as well as our favourite quotes and key moments. There will be a comment section where you can discuss with not only us but other fans. We also have a Tumblr set up so you can contact us through there and let us know what's working. I ask for one thing please try not to start fandom wars, as part of the trifecta of teen dramas which had some of the most intense fandom wars I'd ever seen. Those shows being One Tree Hill, Vampire Diaries and Gossip ,Girl I know how heated things can get, but try to be respectful. Our favourite couples may be different from your favourite couples but let's stick together and have fun. We will also be doing an inspirational movie section where we recommend movies maybe one every two weeks our once a month. These films may not be huge blockbuster hits and most will be some you've never seen or heard of. I believe there are so many movies that the world has not seen because THAT actor isn't in it.

So yeah, this should be a lot of fun and thanks for embarking on this journey with us. Check back later tonight for my first review on my favourite show on television right now How I Met Your Mother.
