I know I know jumping in on week 2 is bad but I forgot that New Girl started last week and we hadn't had this blog made yet so my bad. But a quick recap on last week before we jump into this week. We left off with Schmidt had to choosing between Cece and Elisabeth and he decides to choose both, and we were left sitting here shaking our heads and wondering why Schmidt why? Nick and Jess decided to not uncall their relationship and be 100% all in. The season opener basically shows them being adorable and acting like a married couple and the fandom rejoices. I really don't know if there's anyone who doesn't like Nick and Jess and if they do I ask you this question... why?! That's the extremely short cliff notes version of what happened last week. Let's talk about this week though shall we:
What We Loved:
- Nick and Jess: So far they continue to prove that dating friends can work out. It's great to see this couple having fun and being so carefree together. Nick helping Jess fit in with the weird and somewhat lame teachers at Jess' new school. Nick eventually realizing that it was wrong of him to try and change Jess to fit in and she was perfect the way she was. And the audience swooned. It's safe to say that this is just the honeymoon of the relationship until real drama comes into their lives. One of the best moments of the episode was, when Jess was hungover and Schmidt and Winston thought Nick had killed her. So they started singing to wake her up so she would not be late for work. Shout out to the writers for the singing parallel from the pilot when Nick Coach and Schmidt sing to cheer Jess up after her date stood her up.
- Winston and the Cat: Winston is one of the most underrated characters on the show and he's just so full of warmth and love. It broke my heart that Daisy cheated on him, however 95% of the time I think to myself oh Winston you can do better than London Tipton but nonetheless. The cat was so freaking cute and when Winston told Daisy he was keeping the cat because she broke his heart, I was so proud of him. The show frankly needs more Winston, the season premiere was amazing as well with him and his puzzle. It was easy to relate to, we all have something we love but aren't great at. I know I do.
- The Love Triangle Continues: Episode two and I'm already over it. Schmidt needs to pick a woman before he loses both of them. Both women are in love with him and he loves different parts aspects of them. Elisabeth being his college sweetheart loved him when he was bigger and not many people did. She brings out that carefree personality in him that he keeps bogged down. Schmidt is so uptight and she makes him let loose. Cece and Schmidt had a dysfunctional nonexclusive relationship, which was what made it work. They had fun together and at first it was a purely physical, feelings developed for Cece. Schmidt was more committed in the relationship than Cece and she broke his heart. The girls will catch on soon and Schmidt will be left alone. He needs to figure it out soon.
