Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Well

Welll, well ((see what I did there)). This week's episode was one for the books, it had to be the best since the pilot. Which I think I said that last week, but it keeps getting better and better which is fantastic. This week's was the Thor cross-over in which it picked up where I guess the Dark World left off. I had not seen the new Thor movie so I was hoping I wouldn't confused... which I wasn't. As long as you were aware of who / what the Asgardians were, then you were in good shape. This episode had a lot going on and ended with a bang. Let's get into it:
  1. Those Damn Asgardians: I feel like the root of all issues are the Asgards. In this episode the gang were trying to find pieces of an Asgardian staff that had been growing within a tree for almost a millennium. The staffs powers released and heightened the rage of an individual that they keep bottled up within them. Norwegians Jakob and Petra are the first people to find one third of the staff. Petra uses the rage heightened from the staff to create havoc in Oslo. Her and her boyfriend believe they are Gods. Being sort of a newbie to the Marvel universe in which I know some things but not everything. The reveal of Professor Randolph as an Asgardian was a plot twist where I was like OH SNAP. But I guess if you are a huge comic book reader it wasn't news.. but like I said I was shocked. What I managed to grasp was he was the Asgardian who the staff originally belonged to and he broke it up into pieces so it would not fall into the wrong hands.

  2. Agent Ward Back Story FINALLY: Like I said in the Gemma episode it would be nice to get back story on characters besides Skye and they delivered that tonight. Ward has been criticized by reviewer's above my head ((who I want to become)) saying he is boring and stiff. I disagree, i didn't find him boring I thought he came with an aurora of mystery. When he is in search for the second piece of the staff, he grabs onto. The Asgardian powers forced their way within Ward heightening his rage and releasing a nightmare. A nightmare of a boy drowning in a well. Until the reveal I believed Ward was in the well but then I remembered back a couple of episodes ago when he opened up to Skye, he told her about how his brothers always tortured each other. So my instincts shifted gears to wow this must be one of his brothers in the well. Meaning the ultimate bully was Grant's oldest brother. Professor Randolph said the dark feeling would wear off in a few decades, which sucks for Ward but is good for the audience. Eventually Ward will get to the point in which he has to talk about this... or wants to.

  3. Oh My MayWard: THE PLOT TWIST, oh man. I spend my days thinking about Skye x Ward but this through me for a loop. I know I shouldn't jump to the conclusion but the indication was there and what two grown people who go through traumatic experiences together just stay up and chat anyways. Melinda May just kicks everyone else ass, so when she took the power of the staff so Ward would no longer feel pain I was like yes go kick some ass. She cares about him and you can see that, she also carries around a lot of dark weight so they are similar in that respect. I am intrigued to see the result of the ending and if May x Ward become a thing, although I'm not sure there's room for romance. I feel like this show will be like Prison Break in the sense that there will be a love story but it's more woven in then everything being centered around it, which I am totally game for.

  4. Tahiti: What looks so magical is clearly Coulson's nightmare. He received exposure to the Asgardian power so to speak when he put his hand in Randolph to keep him alive. I am hoping that now that this nightmare for Coulson has just begun we shall see more on his situation between the Battle of New York and now. Meaning they'll bring back Maria Hill ((finally)) because she has a ton of secrets that she is withholding from him.. that little minx.

Quotes:
  • "For once I wish Thor and his people would send down the God of Cleaning Up After Yourself. They probably have a magic broom for this kind of thing." - Agent Coulson
  • "I wouldn't mind getting my human hands on Thor, he's dreamy." "Sure he's handsome." "No, he's dreamy." - Skye, May and Coulson
  • "He's Asgardian." "Good thing, because if not this would have been awful embarrassing." - Ward and Coulson
  • "If Thor's in town, I'll introduce you." - Agent Coulson
If you weren't a fan of this episode I won't be able to fathom why, but you must admit the last 5 minutes were everything. So much happened that will open up so many windows of opportunity for future episodes and it's going to be great.

New Girl: Longest Night Ever

Happy Hump Day everybody, we are half way through the week and so close to the weekend. Last night's New Girl episode had Coach and Cece together on date, while Jess tried to keep Schmidt from thinking about the whole ordeal. Winston was prepared to go on his first date in a long time until Nick lost Ferguson. I thought the episode was really great because it showed the dynamics of the friendships we don't always get to see.
  1. No Not Ferguson: This cat is the cutest cat, it's like grumpy cat but cuter. I want to steal it from the show.. so if Ferguson never returns; I have him. Winston was prepared to get back in the game and asked Nick to look after his precious cat. Nick being Nick left the window open and Ferguson happened to escape. When Winston struck out with a bunch of women he decided he'd live alone with Ferguson for the rest of his life. Winston forces Nick to help him find him. A crazy lady obsessed with her pet hamster finds Ferguson and her and Winston get it on. It was a creepy situation all together. I was as uncomfortable as Nick was during the whole ordeal.

  2. Nick and Jess... Marriage Talk?: Well lack there of, when their date night plans kind of go to hell. Jess mentions that they can just have date nights when they're married. Which did not go unnoticed by Nick but instead of dismissing her and calling her insane like he might of back in season 1. He smiled and asked her what she just said and then they moved on. I don't think Nick himself has thought that far ahead but I don't think it's out of the question when they get to that point. What I love about this show is they didn't wait like 6 seasons to get the bickering friends to be together, they just got down to it, fairly quickly. I assume it won't be all happiness and a falling out of some sort will happen for good drama. But it's clear to assume they are endgame.

  3. Cece and Coach: I am feeling it but still conflicted. They are both on the rebound and I think need each other to get over Schmidt and Melika ((i think that's her name)). Do I think anything will come out it, probably not. Do I want anything to come out of it, not really because I still cling to the idea of Cece and Schmidt even though Schmidt is.... a Schmidt head. Coach was so cute he was extremely nervous and not smooth at all, this breakup really killed his game. He was really trying to hard to impress her and Cece wasn't having it. When she finally gets fed up Coach tells her the truth about how he was texting his mom all night Cece obviously forgives him. They get a little making out going on and inside I'm like yaaaay until Schmidt seems them and I'm like ouch. Seeing them together is probably almost the magnitude of pain Cece felt when she found out the truth about Schmidt.

  4. Jess and Schmidt: My favourite characters together finally. I know what you're thinking Schmidt really, you like Schmidt over Nick. Blame Max Greenfield you guys, plus Barney Stinson is my favourite on HIMYM, is Schmidt that far off from him... No. These two being together as friends is just everything to me. I loved Jess trying to distract him by singing and dancing and reading him passages from her yearbook. Jess tries so hard to make Schmidt feel good. They're friendship is so unique and platonic that the show needs more of it. Mostly because they are great and funny characters individually that together they bring out the comedy. Like when Schmidt asks Jess to hit him with her car. It was probably one of the funniest scenes in the series. Jess is in such a tight spot because she loves Cece and Schmidt, Cece obviously more but it's still hard. She's like the voice of reason telling Schmidt he has to let her go. Schmidt's face though when he sees Cece and Coach making out. I felt so bad but he does deserve it for what he did. Dammit Max Greenfield you and your face make me sympathize.
Quotes:
  • "That's good for Cece, Coach is smoking hot.... wrong crowd I see that now." - Jess
  • "It's good for Coach, it's good for Cece, it's good for America. Who knows we might even get a new Tiger Woods out of the deal." - Schmidt
  • "We'll have date night when we're marri-der ba der ba der." "What did you just.." "Merry we're very merry Christmas." - Nick and Jess
  • "She's on a flip-phone Jess, she's either poor or a time traveler." - Schmidt
  • "Do you have anything that says 'I'm sorry I cheated you, please don't sleep with my friend.'? Of course you don't... ooh samples." - Schmidt
  • "You freaking just hit me with your vehicle." - Schmidt
  • "I hit him because I care about him." - Jess
One of the best episodes of the season in my opinion, probably because of the Jess and Schmidt dynamic and the return of Ferguson. This show continues to be a good and funny comedy and I'm loving it.

How I Met Your Mother: Mom & Dad

Happy Tuesday everybody, hope you had a great weekend and a good Monday. The best part about my Monday is always ending the day with HIMYM, because let's face it Monday's are the worst. After a really good episode last week I really wasn't expecting too much from this weeks episode. Usually these shows go great episode, great episode, filler, filler. Although next week's looks pretty kickass, an entire episode in rhyme is such a cool concept. But anyways this episode was completely filler but it was rather enjoyable I thought. Upon rewatching I did fast forward through Marshall and Daphne scenes (sorry Marshmallow) but watched everything else. But enough of this rambling intro let's get down to it:

  1. Reverend Sam Saves the Day and Gets Some: I loved Sam back when we met him a few seasons back and when Barney & Robin's original reverend died, my first thought was bring back Sam and they did. I think that there really isn't anyone better to marry these two than him. He may not know them extremely well but a lot better than the other reverends who couldn't accept their interesting lifestyles. On the other side of the storyboard we had the triangle between Jerry/Loretta/Sam which isn't exactly a triangle because one party is happily married but in the mind of Barney Stinson it's a triangle. I never really expected Sam and Loretta to hook up but hey whatever works. I loved what Robin said about everyone being with someone that made them happy and because James was going through a divorce that maybe he needed Mom and Dad for a change.

  2. Marshall and Daphne: Please tell me that Daphne is done being on the show because I do not care. I understand Minnesota to New York is a long drive but I need Marshall to break a few rules and put the pedal to the metal because we are all losing interest here. The attempt to humanize her character by using a kid to make our hearts ache did not go unnoticed. I still wasn't feeling it, so nice try. I did however love them listening to "500 miles" and Marvin driving the car at one point was hysterical but other than that let's leave Daphne on the side of the road, thank you.

  3. Detective Mosby: The world would be a better place if Ted realized how bad of a detective he was. When Lily said he was the worst, it was like she was taking the words right out of my head. Ted is really bad at solving crimes we all know this, that's why it's one of the best reoccurring themes. Speaking of reoccurring themes the Pineapple Incident was brought back up and still unsolved. I thought to myself DAMMIT HIMYM WHAT ABOUT THE PINEAPPLE?! ... You were all thinking it to. Shoutout to the writers for the 30 seconds of shirtless Josh Radnor, I will treasure this moment for a lifetime ((damn his arms)).

  4. Oh Barney...: Literally what I found myself saying this about ten times over the episode. Barney has had great character development, there is no denying that so sometimes it's comical when he reverts back to his boyish ways. Being deprived of a real childhood will do that to you. His plans to make his parents fall back in love, made me think of Parent Trap the entire time, except James is not his twin. The musical number reminded me of Pleasantville but it was strangely everything I could ever want and more. NPH and Wayne Brady singing together was like music to my ears; their voices are so angelic.

Quotes:
  • "I now pronounce your asses saved." - Sam
  • "I want to give this to Robin, Gretzky is her favourite. She sometimes says his name in bed; I've accepted it." - Barney
  • "Marriage is just a meaningless piece of paper." "I'm a lucky gal." - Barney & Robin
  • “Please tell me you didn’t put some crazy scheme in motion.” “... I didn’t put some crazy scheme in motion.” “Why did you pause?” “…..... I didn’t pause.” “WHY DID YOU PAUSE?!” - Barney & Robin
  • “Detective Mosby is the worst.” - Lily
  • “I’m marrying into this family.” - Robin
  • “Somehow people always had popcorn.” - Zabka

So yeah I thought this week's was okay nothing special but nothing terrible so that's a step in the right direction... or a complete stand still who knows. I know I ranted about humanizing characters we don't care about and I know they did it to Billy Zabka but I like him so it didn't bother me at all. I laughed at him always getting hit with popcorn. I do not know why I have more synpathy for him then Daphne but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Moving on to future episodes I do want to hopefully see JJ, Carly and Katie. I'm hoping ABC Family allows Lucy Hale and Ashley Benson to switch networks for a week, if they don't I'll be real pissed. Robin needs some sort of family to show up, it's getting depressing here.

Next week's looks really good so hopefully it all works out we are getting down to the wire here people. Episode 11 next week and they are currently starting production on 9x16 which is episode 200, time is flying by. I will try not to get emotional here. Have a good week my friends.

New Girl: Menus

  1. Jessica Day: Last night's New Girl episode kicked off with Jessica getting shut down by her principal every time she brought up a new idea to make the kid's school days more enjoyable. All Jess wants to do is make a difference so she goes on a rampage trying to do so. She gets into a fight with the local Chinese restaurant who keeps putting menus in her apartment. She tries to "save" the environment by informing Brian that nobody needs that many menus delivered to them. Brian does not listen to her, so Jess decides to just give up. She feels that if she can not save the environment or help her kid's see the cool wonders of the world then what's the point. *cue Nick Miller*

  2. Nick and Coach: Coach is trying to get Nick to do something with his life and to start by getting off the couch and working out. After working out Coach hopes that Nick will have enough energy and motivation to go out and try something new or to help someone succeed. Nick reverts to his habits of eating and sitting on the couch and in turn Coach becomes depressed. Coach feels like ever since his girlfriend broke up with him that he has lost his purpose in life. Nick believes Coach and Jess are being ridiculous and he is sparked with motivation and gives them a pep talk. Inspired by his words Jess rents a van and takes her students to see the ocean herself.

  3. Schmidt: Well Schmidt being separated from the group did not last long. Last night his jealousy continued over Coach and Nick's bonding that he tried to install a Nanny Cam, which was a clear sign that he wanted back in. At the end of the episode Jess gives him the key back and all was right in the world. I am very excited to see Nick, Jess, Coach, Winston and Schmidt all live in that apartment. I think it will be an awesome dynamic, and one can only assume Schmidt will make Coach move into Jess' room forcing Nick and Jess to share a room.
Quotes:
  • “His jeans are so small.” “He looks like a puppet.” - Nick and Coach
  • “You’ll be able to see your abs.” “I didn't think God gave me those.” - Coach and Nick
  • “Hey, what’s up Jason Street.” - Nick
  • “Guys it’s locked or unlocked, get it together guys.” - Schmidt
This show never fails to make me smile and laugh, the Friday Night Light's shout-out was my favourite thing tonight. This show is very witty and well written and I think once HIMYM is over New Girl will take over as one of my favourite shows on television. I hope you guys have a fantastic week and I'll see you later :)

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: The Hub

Can you really trust the system? That was the theme of last night's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when a mission that only clearance Level 8 was allowed to be aware of  came to head, Skye began to wonder if "Big Brother" could actually be trusted.

  1. Operation Over Kill: S.H.I.E.L.D was on a mission to over ride an overkill machine that would use their own weapons against them, if they it was not stopped. This mission's information was classified to those whose clearance level was less than Level 8. So, in this situation only Agent Coulson and Agent May were allowed to know the full details of the mission; while they sent Fitz and Agent Ward out into the field. Skye became extremely concerned about where Fitz and Ward were being sent off to. So she decided to team up with Simmons to help hack into the system that was designed to, protect those who were not cleared to receive such a level of information. Meanwhile Fitz and Ward had to work together to not only survive but to disarm the Over Kill weapon and try to make it out of their location as safely as possible. The only problem is Agent Shaw who was in charge of this operation did not set up an extraction plan, essentially meaning they were on their own to survive and make it back to safety.

  2. Skye's Family: The main reason Skye asked Simmons to help her hack into the system was to find the retracted document on her parents. When Coulson discovered what she was doing he was less than impressed. He told her that he would help her if she could just trust him. I feel like Coulson is going to need her down the road to keep a secret, and she could potentially cause mayhem if she doesn't learn to be patient. Coulson tells Skye that an unidentified S.H.I.E.L.D Agent dropped her off at the orphanage. There is a possibility that the agent was her mother or maybe it was just a random agent, but I highly doubt that this wasn't coincidental. I assume the Agent was her mother and did not want her child to have to grow up in this life. In the later scene with Agent May, it appears that Coulson is obviously hiding more to the story, but what is the question and why is it so dangerous for them to uncover the truth.

  3. Agent Coulson: I honestly believe that Coulson out of all of the characters has the most dirty laundry. Considering he died at the hands of Loki but is alive because of Nick Furry, which is probably the biggest of all but there's so much more. In the pilot Maria Hill says that he can never know about what really happened in Tahiti, but like I really want to know what the hell happened in Tahiti. I want to know how Nick Furry got his heart to start beating considering he was dead for 8 seconds. How has Coulson changed personality wise since his death, because I feel like everyone has pointed it out that he's different. Also at the end of last night's episode when he went to get more information on the retracted document he wasn't allowed. In order to receive information on retracted documents you must have a clearance level of 8 or higher, which he has. So why can he not access these files? Was his clearance level revoked? If so, why? There is so much more to know about Coulson which I hope they get to somewhere within the next like 15 episodes or at least tell me what the heck happened in Tahiti, because Coulson believes it's magical but I'm thinking the magical place he remembers was heaven and Tahiti was his hell.
Quotes:
  • “Don’t do anything rash while I’m gone like jump out of an airplane.” - Fitz
  • “I don’t want to be a part of your bad girl shenanigans.”- Simmons
  • “This is a mission not a picnic.” - Ward
  • “Barton and Romanoff never have an extraction plan’’ - Agent Hand
I thought this week brought so many questions to head and casually barely answered anything. But if we found everything out now, would we really keeping coming back for more. No we would not, in true Whedon fashion you want to come back again and again. I think this show is heading in the right direction and i'm loving it. Let me know what you think, you can also hit me up on Twitter or Tumblr. I don't bite I promise you... I hope you all have a fantastic week and I will see you next week.

How I Met Your Mother: Platonish

Happy Hump Day my fellow readers. Monday nights episode was one of the best of the season and I feel like I keep saying that but it's because it's getting better and better. The episode was completely in flashbacks and the familiar scenes in the bar and apartment came spilling back. When this season structure was brought I thought every episode would be like this... here's to hoping some of the remaining 15 episodes :((( are structured this way as well. This episode had a lot going on a lot that I'm sure made you cheer and groan because THAT story line was brought up for the millionth unnecessary time, yes you know exactly which one I'm talking about.

1. Ted and Robin: Let's just get straight into it because you know you all groaned at this. And if you didn't groan it's because you ship them beyond friendship and well then bless your little heart. These two will ALWAYS have something between them there is no denying it, and I think this episode kind of showed that just because there's something between them doesn't mean anything is going to come of it. Ted is in love with the idea of marrying Robin and always has been. He has been waiting around for her to change his mind for as long as anyone can remember, but here is the the kicker.... brace yourselves because I am about to blow your mind. Robin isn't in love with him *kaboom* told you it was intense. I feel like that was established in season 7 and PEOPLE DISREGARD IT. Like including Marshall... I understand he is or should I say one of Ted's best friend and wants him to be happy but shouldn't Robin's happiness be accounted for? Maybe I just follow the wrong people on twitter and tumblr but this whole Ted/Robin not working out thing is always thrown back on Robin, like she can't help who she loves for one thing. In this episode of flashbacks there was so many times that if Ted was really in love with Robin he would have acted on it. Like he said eight years ago he would have jumped in a cab and stole the blue french horn for her to win her back. He instead sat in the bar and said what's the rush as if she was going to be waiting around for him, forever. Which has has not been the case. Ted closed the door to the married at forty deal and in that time Robin moved on and fell in love, she can't be blamed for that. The show is also called How I Met Your Mother. Not.... How I Met Aunt Robin Who I Called Aunt Robin In The Pilot. You know Ted wins in the end because it is a love story in reverse, he gets the girl, the house and the kids. So yeah they dated in season 1 and 2 it was heartbreaking when it ended because you knew it wasn't going to work out and now they are best friends, The End.

2. Bryan Cranston Returns: Hammond Druthers coming back was one of the best things ever, I think I was more excited than most because I am currently watching Breaking Bad for the first time. So therefore I have a lot of Walter White feelings. I however loved Hammond back in s2 and when Ted put him in his place, I think it's essentially when his career began to take off then fall drastically downhill then slowly take off again. What I picked up from the conversation that they were having that maybe people didn't think was Hammond wanted him to join his team in Chicago. Now these flashbacks were set back in the Fall of 2012, well if we remember at the end of 8x24 Ted said he was leaving New York to move to Chicago to get away from Barney and Robin and to let them be happy. My thought now is if he went to Chicago he would need a new job to pay his rent, so maybe he "took" the job with Hammond, but will obviously turn it down again when he meets the mother. But it's just a thought.

3. Barney/Robin/Lily: Robin and Lily spent the majority of the flashback giving Barney challenges to complete because he never does any given by other people. Some of the challenges were really strange like the dolphin one made me a tad red from embarrassment but I laughed when Robin called the girl and was like oh sweetheart no. The next challenge was to pick up the girl wearing a garbage bag and not use the letter "E" which I thought was extremely clever. Barney continues to be invisible and Robin has had enough of it. The challenge of the night HAD to be the Ryan Gosling one and Barney pretending he was in fact Ryan Gosling had me rolling around on the floor. Robin and Lily were so fed up that they sent Barney on an errand which led to one of the best plot lines in a long time.

4. Barney and the Mother: If you didn't scream or at least squeal I don't know what to say to you. I thought this was one of the most clever plot lines the show has ever given us. It further proved that the Mother will be perfect for Ted because she is thoughtful and always tries to make other lives better. It also helped people who still don't believe that Barney is perfect for Robin, if you are one of those people I apologize. The mother put Barney in his place and helped him come to term with his feelings because ever since he and Robin broke up the first time he had buried himself deep within in the Playbook to try and keep himself from feeling vulnerable. Before Robin the only other person he loved was Shannon and certainly not to the same degree, and that break up changed him. Barney realized he wanted to stop playing the game he had been playing all these years and go the distance to win. The mother told him to give it everything he's got and then is how the Robin / the Final Page he would ever need came to play and I think it is a magical thing. What I also love is according to Carter Bays these flashbacks occurred after Splitsville and before the Stamp Tramp meaning that Barney's "I am hopelessly irretrievably in love with her.." speech wasn't planned for the play he did it on his own, which makes you want to weep let's be real here.

Quotes
  • “I just need to stop crying does anybody know how to turn this off? Is there like a button or something.” - Robin
  • “Oh god we are back to your stupid private little joke again.” - Lily
  • “I only know of one genuine platonic relationship.” “You and me?”  “Don’t make me laugh Lily you want to hit this so hard.” - Barney and Lily
  • “Honey listen to me… I’m going to need you to take a year, a full year and just be celibate okay?” - Robin
  • “Challng Accptd.” - Barney
  • “Look Ted I can make your life very difficult.” “How?” “How?! I will call you a lot, I will tweet at you like crazy. I will live on your Facebook wall.” - Hammond and Ted
  • “What could I possibly be sad about?” “I think you were in love and you messed it up. And every moment of your life since then has been spent trying to stay busy enough to ignore that fact.” - Barney and the Mother
  • “I always regret giving up… it just ended so quickly.” - Barney
  • “Do you want to keep playing or do you want to win?” “I want to win… What am I doing in less than twenty minutes Robin and I could be...”  “Oh no no no, this is going to take a lot more than twenty minutes.  This is going to take everything you have got. This is going to take all of your time, all of your attention, all of your resources. This is the big one.” - The Mother and Barney
  • “I have no idea who that girl was but she set me straight, after that I had one challenge and one challenge only. Get Robin Scherbatsky to fall in love with me.” “Challenge completed.” - Barney and Robin

I thought the episode was really good, I mean besides the parts where I was like we've been down this road before but okay go ahead then. I'm excited to see the reaction of the Mother when she finds out her band is playing for Barney and Robin's wedding. I want Marshall to pay Lily the god damn five dollars so he can shut up about it. I'm just excited for the rest of the season, I am liking where it is heading and hope it continues to get better and better. Let me know what you guys thought. You can hit me up on Twitter or Tumblr if you want to chat about anything, I don't bite I promise. I hope you all have a fantastic rest of the week and weekend.

New Girl: Keaton & Coach Reviews

Keaton
In a classic New Girl Halloween style episode which are always filled with interesting situations. The gang "catfish" Schmidt to make him smile, their intentions were in the right place but it turned ugly fast. Schmidt's mother had be sending him letters from Michael Keaton and Schmidt being the insecure little boy he was and sometimes still is believed the letters were real and would write back. In college Nick became Keaton, and this time around Nick AND Jess were Keaton.

Jess tries her hardest to make Schmidt feel better but fails miserably, when she drinks a lot and dresses up as Batman. Nick comes clean about Keaton and Schmidt is devastated, which might not even be the worst of it. Cece shows up to the party and sees Schmidt, Schmidt looks as if he's been run over by a pick up truck. I feel bad for him but he did bring it on to himself. Schmidt decides to move out of the loft and live alone... across the hall. So there's still a bit of hope.

Quotes:
  • "Was Winston's version shorter?" - Jess
  • "Oh my god, you've been cat fishing Schmidt." -Jess
  • "Would you listen to your woman voice for one minute?" "Well I'm not going to talk to him in a woman voice, I have a character." - Nick & Jess
  • "It's bat mobile." "That's what I said batman mobile." - Cece & Jess

Coach
In last night's episode Damon Wayans Jr. made his triumphant return as Coach who we have not seen since the Pilot. It was awesome to have him back, I loved him in the pilot and was kind of sad his other show was picked up forcing him to not be leave the show. However, Winston has been a fantastic addition so it turned out great. We found out he had just been dumped and was trying to fill the void by taking the gang minus Jess to a strip club for some shenanigans. He ends the night trying to pick a fight with his exes new boyfriend who is conveniently a cop. I read online that he's going to be sticking around for awhile or may even pop up every now and then which is fantastic.

Nick & Jess: These two had their moments of "oh no" and "aww". When Nick backed himself into a corner with Coach and said they had not defined as boyfriend and girlfriend Jess became extremely offended, as she should have. What I love most about these two is they have these little riffs and then go off alone with their friends and realize they were idiots and come back to each other. I was no nervous that the Artie thing was going to be a bigger deal than it actually was. I'm so happy it wasn't and that Nick and Jess trust each other enough to know the other would not cheat. These two together are such a strong pairing and I am hoping they don't have a messy break up and we have to wait another like 3 seasons until they end up together like most shows love doing.

Quotes:
  • "Make a wish." "I'm afraid to." - Miles & Jess
  • "Girls are replaceable, jobs are forever." - Winston
  • "Do you have any questions?" "Do you want me to have any questions?" - Jesss & Nick
I thought the episode last night was really good! I am hoping that Schmidt moves back into the loft and that he and Nick bury the hatchet. It's clear that Schmidt is miserable without his friends and has never felt more alone in his life. So hopefully this gets sorted out soon. I would like to thank the casting director for Taye Digg's cameo in the episode because DAMN. And that's pretty much it.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: The Girl in the Flower Dress & FZZT

After a week hiatus from the show and the blog I am back with double reviews of The Girl in the Flower Dress and last night's emotional thriller FZZT.

The Girl in the Flower Dress

Agent Skye: Skye was finally caught in this episode, caught playing both sides of the field that is and you knew it was coming. As a huge One Tree Hill fan in my past life to say I squealed over Austin Nichols as her ex-boyfriend would be the understatement of the century. They're chemistry was electric and I couldn't help wishing he wasn't a bad guy so he could stay around for a longer time. I couldn't help but feel bad for Skye because she was in such a tight spot. She has grown so close to the people with in S.H.I.E.L.D. but can't let go of her Riding Tide past. At the end of the episode you learn she is just trying to find her parents, and you can't really blame a girl for that. Coulson told her that there are some things you really don't want to know the answers to, so it makes me wonder if her parents are dead or turned into like evil scientists of some sort. I am quite intrigued to learn more about her family life and why it screwed her up so bad.

The Girl in the Flower Dress: One of the creeper villains this season. She is trying to capture those with "gifts" and increase their power while teaching them how to nature it. Essentially trying to turn people with powers, famous Super villains who will be recognized for years to come and remembered. Learning that the Girl in the Flower Dress was associated with the psycho scientist from the pilot was interesting. Whenever the actress is in shows I've seen her characters are always up to no good i.e The OC and Prison Break and this was no exception. Instead of trying to help "Scorch." be remembered, they extracted his platelets that were fire resistant. At the end of the episode you are left to wonder who she was visiting in the prison and who is their clairvoyant that doesn't like to be touched.

Quotes:
  • "Say it Ward.. say it." "You sank my battleship." - Skye & Ward
  • "Body probes that's disturbing S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't do that... we don't do that." - Fitz
  • "Ah crap, they gave him a name." - Coulson
  • "You can go now." "Cool, but we are still in Honk Kong." "Yeah." "I live in Austin, Texas." "I know." - Coulson & Miles

FZZT
In one of the best episodes of the season if not THE best of the season it was refreshing to see Fitz and Simmons in the foreground and have Skye in the background. As much as I love Skye, it is nice to see new information on the other four characters we are supposed to identify with.

The Chitauri Helmet: What I love about this show which I've said every week is how the continuity from past movies and comic books always weaves its way into the show; as it should. With the perfect post Avengers tie in we learn that the firemen who were first respondents in the Battle of New York kept a Chitauri Helmet as a souvenir. A costly mistake that transferred electrostatic virus within them, killing them in a strange matter. The virus was transferred by an electric shock transferred by the friction caused by rubbing the Helmet or in Simmon's case by touching the body.

Jemma Simmons: It was nice to dive more into the emotions of Jemma, and we learned pretty quickly that Elizabeth is a great actress and nailed the emotional bits. When examining the body out in the field, Simmons gets an electric shock and eventually contracts the virus. I have always been a huge fan of the dynamic between Fitz and Simmons and am always left wondering brother/sister vibe or something more... when I figure it out I will let you know. We learned that they have always been together and are sort of a packaged deal. It became super emotional when Simmons tried to knock Fitz out and sacrifice herself so that nobody else would become infected.

Agent Coulson: You are a liar if you didn't get emotional in the Avengers when Coulson "died". It was a big deal and when this show started I wondered when they would address it and how. Last night we learned that he did in fact die for 8 seconds and recalls the experience as "beautiful". It is to be expected that he feels different and has changed because parts of him died that day in New York and they are never coming back. So what I am left wondering is how did he come back to life? The spear that Loki killed him with pierced his heart which would take more then a little CPR to revive him. So what sort of technology does S.H.I.E.L.D. have locked away that could help bring him back to life from that massive blow that quickly.

Quotes:
  • "Working up a good sweat sir?" "I don't sweat... I glisten." - Simmons & Coulson
  • "This guy makes Captain America look like the DUDE." - Skye
  • "I'm completely normal.. a little heavy on the iron. Don't start calling me Iron Man." "I wasn't planning on it." - Coulson & May
Jammed packed action in the past two weeks and this show seems to be going in one direction and that's up with increased drama and more stories unraveling I am quite excited for it to continue. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

How I Met Your Mother: The Lighthouse

If you have not seen this episode yet I do not even know what you are doing here. MAJOR SPOILERS TURN BACK NOW. *grabs paper bag* This episode you guys, I don't even know if I am going to make it through this recap without becoming emotional. But here we go the Lighthouse, brace yourselves people it's going to be an emotional review.
At the end of last week Marshall had finally told Lily the truth which opened up the floor for WWIII and Lily was beyond pissed off, thank god for Linus. A few weeks back Robin and Loretta came head to head in the battle for Barney's affection leaving him in a tough spot in the middle of his soon-to-be wife and his mother. And then there's Ted oh sweet Theodore, having terrible luck finding a date to this wedding he just says screw it and hits up Cassie again... ("You chose poorly"). Let's dive in and talk about this episode.

Clint & Virginia: I was SO happy to see Ted's parents back, I LOVE Clint and Virginia so I definitely squealed when they showed up. Clint showing up the back of the Hummer was great. I love how Ted and his family try their best to make everything right. It was great filler comedy to have them change the beat from the dramatic tone this episode had underlying as it got down to the last half of the show.

Robin & Loretta: If you go back to my recap of 9x05 you may remember that I was less than amused about the fight and disagreement going on between Robin and Loretta. When the press release for this episode came out and we learned they were still fighting I was quite skeptical again, but damn didn't it all work out. What started off as a hilarious banter and scramble egg war; turned dramatic and painful so fast. Loretta questioning what Robin would cook for the children she could never have, struck the hearts of fans everywhere. What I caught while watching a second time was that the egg ordeal seemed to be a metaphor for what Loretta and Robin could and could not do. Loretta could make eggs / have children and Robin could not. It was emotional to say the least. Upon finding out FROM Barney that Robin could not have kids AND that Robin's mom was not coming to the wedding everything seemed so sad. Until, Robin and Loretta buried the hatchet with an emotional hug and one of the first heartfelt mother/daughter scenes.

Barney & Robin: These two... it's no surprise who I am here for above everything else. So this episode hit me like a ton of bricks. After THE SCENE happened I think my heart stopped for a few seconds, I also cried the hardest over these two since the proposal back in S8. The discussion EVERY Barney and Robin fan was waiting to happen, happened and it was so perfect. I don't even know where to begin. From the beginning we know Robin didn't want kids, Barney never seemed to concerned either. At Tom and James wedding there were signs that he would have been a cute father when he held that baby during the reception. When Barney thought he and Robin were pregnant in S7 he was extremely excited and started playing house with Ted. When the results came out that she wasn't pregnant, he was relieved and so was Robin. But finding out she could never have kids crushed Robin, she tells her "future kids" that their "father" would've probably try to bend over backwards to make her laugh and smile. Robin tells Barney last out of the core group a year laterr. For Ted and Kevin, not having kids was always a deal breaker so I think that Robin didn't want to disappoint Barney or have him walk out of her life forever so she stalled it a bit. Robin tells him so casually thinking that he won't even notice it or that they will just continue to walk and not discuss it. Barney was so concerned and sad you could see it written all over his face he just stops her and hugs her. Let's talk about a lot of meaningful things in their relationship happen while they are casually out walking together. Like 5x01 when they confirm the relationship and walk hand-in-hand for brunch, the S6 finale when they run into Nora and Robin realizes she still loves him, 7x09 when they kiss in the rain and the whole cheating situation and heartache goes down. The almost kiss after Barney declares he's "in love" with Robin and the drunk kiss after their night out. It's become canon that important things between them happen on the streets of New York and you won't ever here me complaining about it.  What's the real kicker here is that in the fall of 2012, Barney and Robin weren't even together yet so that's what hurts the most. And when you think about it in the scheme of things. Barney proposed to Robin knowing she couldn't have kids because unlike the other men in her life it wasn't a deal breaker for him. He isn't marrying her to have her kids, he is marrying her to spend the rest of their lives together, and that's all that matters.

Robin... in general: Finally someone writes a Robin heavy episode.. because she is my favourite character this is extremely biased but at this point you should not be surprised. It's always great to get Robin's point of view on things, to see how she reacts and deals with things thrown at her. And what started off as light hearted banter, turned cold then sad really fast. We learned more about Robin's mother which I thought was GREAT, the only upsetting part was that Robin's mother is not coming because she is afraid to fly. I'm hoping that someone forces her to come because I think even though Robin and her mother didn't really get along,  it's her daughter's wedding and it's got to mean something. Let me give a special shout out to Cobie because she nailed everything thrown at her in this episode, and if you heart didn't shatter when she broke down in Loretta's arms, then you must have a heart of stone. Someone give me a call when this girl gets recognition for how diverse of an actress she can be. She is so underrated and it's killing me.

Ted & The Mother: Oh Theodore, I love you so dearly. Every time I see him I'm just like she's on her way, she's on her way. You will NOT be miserable much longer. The difficult part about the season being on one weekend all of Ted's unfortunate moments during the weekend take weeks to overcome while we watch it live. Like Ted is only having 2.5 bad days but for us it seems like he's having 12 weeks worth of bad days, so I have to remind myself to think long term. As his misfortune with Cassie continues, Lily gives Ted a life talk as always. (A+ Ted and Lily material this season). Flash forward two years and Ted brings the RIGHT girl to the Lighthouse. And the tears started flowing when he drops down on one knee, it's like this weight is lifted from your shoulders. You know right from the pilot that Ted wins in the end but it's so refreshing to see it happen. And this scene was perfect and one of the best proposal's on the show. Someone asked me yesterday if I thought Ted's speech should have been longer and more drawn out to display more emotion. I disagreed because for one it kept with the pattern of the other proposals not being long and elaborate in the speeches. I think the subtlety of it all made it so beautiful. Josh and Cristin click so well together, definitely the best chemistry Ted has ever had with a girl on this show. I just loved everything about this scene and I love everything about the two of them. Now for something to think about, exactly two years from the wedding would have been May 2015 and in the Trilogy episode back in S7, we learned that their first child was born in 2015. So is it safe to assume Ted got the house then baby and then the wife? His out of order declaration from 8x24 came through. You go Theodore.

Quotes:
  • "Morning bitches, like my new blouse?" - Robin
  • "She doesn't have to share my love for coins, although it would be nice not to go stag at coin con." - Ted
  • "You're slipping Linus." "We're running out of glasses." - Lily and Linus
  • "Remember happy wife, happy life." - Lily
  • "It's a scramble off everybody, scramble to the death. Somebody go watch for the cops."
  • "Mom, I'm not marrying some future possibly of having a family. I'm marrying a girl, who means more to me then kids." - Barney
  • "When you vomit, I vomit... you know that." - The Mother
  • "Will you.." "Yes." "You didn't even let me finish..." "Yes, Yes, Yes." "Marry me?" "Yes!" - Ted and The Mother

This episode was one of the best of the season, I still hold 9x02 very close to my heart. This episode felt like classic HIMYM, in which it had the ability to make you laugh but still tear your heart into little pieces which is what I love. This show is unique in which you enjoy laughing but you care deeply about the emotions of everyone. So let's all give props to Rachel Axler for being a kickass writer and taking our emotions for a ride. How did you feel about tonight's episode? Hit up the comment box and share your feelings.

How I Met Your Mother: No Questions Asked

Hello dear people who read this... if anyone still reads this. I might be talking to myself at this point but I allow creatively venting so I shall continue. After an unexpected hiatus I am back to review two episodes of himym in separate posts because last night's episode needs to be talked about in depth. But last Monday's episode was actually a present surprise it taught me not to judge an episode by it's promo video. I thought it was going to be a Halloween episode and considering I hate Halloween we were already off to a bad start but alas it was funny and quirky... sure it had some bad bits but it wasn't completely terrible.

At the end of the last episode Daphne texted Lily to tell her that Marshall had taken the judgeship without telling her. The entire episode centers around Marshall getting the people that he loves to do him a favour No Questions Asked... let's breakdown it down

No Questions Asked Concept: The concept was interesting I thought some of the no questions asked were extremely weird like Night Falcon ... or should I say Robin, what on earth was she doing in that alley with the purple spandex. Not that many were complaining about the attire because hello Cobie Smulders am I right? I thought Ted's was hilarious because at this point him locking himself in a mailbox seems as low as it gets... at least he knows he's ridiculous it's starting to sink in that his desperation to meet "the one" is extreme but she's on her way Ted. The only no questions asked I didn't like was Barney's but that's because I have a huge hate for toilet humor so that's that. I found it funny yet really weird that Marshall didn't call Ted first.. although he is bad in a crisis so maybe it does make a little sense. The fact that nobody listened to Marshall when he said the door was open was hilarious. At least Robin used the door... sort of.

Barney & Robin: The weirdest part about season 8 and season 9 with these two is the playbook took up so much of the season so when they did get married we never got to see them workout the stuff that tore them apart in the earlier seasons. We also didn't really get to see them plan and argue about the wedding, so here they are two days from saying I do and disagreeing about things that should have been worked out last season. Bringing up the breakup in s5 has a huge fan was like twisting the knife, Robin was right in everything she said though... they would always try to keep their independence and not become extremely coupley like Marshall and Lily for example, and in a marriage the people they were before just won't work. Of course these arguments do bring out the sweet moments in the end. The conversation they had in Lily's room was heartfelt and showed how together they can beat the odds and be the strong couple that many people STILL don't believe they can be. Sure they aren't the most functional couple but they bring out the best in each other and it's really awesome to watch.

Marshall & Lily: The faster Marshall gets to New York the happier everyone will be. This is being dragged out so long and it's one of the major reoccurring annoyances. Even if it is a holiday weekend you can not tell me there wouldn't be a flight to New York in ONE of the major states they pass through.. I mean please. The speech Marshall gave to Ted about not wanting to ask Lily anything no questions asked was so adorable. It's been so nice to have a stable couple through the nine seasons of the show minus like 8 episodes of S1/2 but it needed to happen so the characters could grow into who they are today. The only thing that threw me was the ending of the episode and how Lily reacted to him telling her the truth. I understand why she was mad I just think her response seemed a little OOC and you know they will have a big blowout if and when he ever gets there. We know Marshall becomes a judge because of the flashforwards in s6 and s8, I'm just intrigued to see how it plays out.

Quotes:
  • "Hey I was a man in need." "I know you were a priority male." - Ted and Marshall
  • "Oh God, the hookers here!" "Ted... I am not going to cheat on Robin but you're a hell of a best man for getting me one." - Ted and Barney
  • "I will use air ducts like the bad guy in Die Hard." "Barney, Bruce Willis is not the bad guy in Die Hard... that's not the point." - Barney and Marshall
  • "I am not paying for room service the hooker ordered." "... I've been there." - Lily and Barney
  • "You know maybe lone wolves can learn to work together." "I'd like to think so." - Barney and Robin
  • "Why do you have a gun? WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE A GUN?" - Ted
  • "No, Courtney Cove I already lost Kurt Coobain I can't lose you too." - Barney
  • "I never asked Lily anything no questions asked because.. I've never wanted to. She's the love of my life I never keep anything from her." - Marshall
Overall I thought this episode was pretty good there were some things that could have used some tweaking but it wasn't completely terrible. Let me know what you guys think and get ready for the big emotional Lighthouse review.

How I Met Your Mother: The Poker Game and Knight Vision

Hey guys I am back with 9x05 and 9x06 reviews, I missed last week because I was frankly really upset about it. Just because there was a lot of unnecessary drama and it was a filler episode. I honestly thought this season’s purpose was because they had so many ideas. It’s almost like they have a lot but not enough for a full 24 episodes. I don’t know I just think episodes that don’t really advance the plot serve no purpose. Anyways let’s review good and the whatever

9.05: The Poker Game
With Marshall and Daphne crossing through Chicago, Marshall reminisces about Gazola’s pizza which is an amazing call back. Barney’s bachelor poker game commences but not without its problems.

The Good:

  1.  Flashforward of Barney and Lily: One of my favourite friendships on the show so seeing them have little chat and Lily helping Barney with his Robin problems is always great. The flash forward made me laugh and smile. Laugh because Lily kneed Barney in the nuts and smile because if any linger doubt if the wedding would occur was lifted. And the swarkles fandom rejoiced.

  2.  Robin Standing Up For Herself: Robin is my favourite character which I’m sure I’ve mentioned before and sometimes I think she deserves more. She is such a strong and an independent woman or at least was and she doesn’t deserve to be treated poorly. So when she basically told Barney that their commitment to each other meant he should have his back I wanted to stand up and clap. Barney’s character is wired that way in which he doesn’t get it or at times can be selfish, which is why Robin is there to pull his head out of his ass. Robin deserves the world in my opinion and she’s slowly getting it. If they would only flash forward to her in the future with an amazing journalism career I think I could be satisfied with how her character’s story ended.

  3. Ted Sending Marshall Pizza: With all the back and forth wedding and note confusion, the pizza ending warmed my heart. It’s so weird to not have Marshall present for these episodes in the present scenes. He’s clearly in the flashbacks and everything but still I think one of the main things about the structure of this season that bothers me is the lack of Marshall in the present and group scenes. Ted sending Marshall a pizza was an amazing callback to the past and shows that their friendship is one of the strongest the show has to offer.

The Whatever

  1. Marshall and Ted (Present vs. Note): it started out really funny and good but then it went on for a long time and we were left wondering if it would ever end. Ted would never mess up a gift and Marshall and Lily would never forget a note, it’s like their nerdy thing. Leave it to Stuart and Claudia though; shout-out to the wonderful continuity though.

  2.  James Wedding Hatred: I understand that he is upset about his whole divorce, but when he was happy with Tom he was all over Barney to settle down.  I feel like if he loves his brother he should not try to destroy his happiness just because his life is a mess. I mean clearly this is the happiest Barney has ever been, why would a brother ruin that.

  3.  Robin vs. Barney’s Mom: I just don’t understand maybe because I’m young and haven’t dealt with parents of my significant others, but they literally were just getting along in season eight for the Bachelor party. Lily and the Eriksen’s already do not get along can’t we have one happy set of in-laws’. Maybe Clint and Virginia will love the mother, but nonetheless I just thought this fight over Barney was pointless. I do get that mother’s feel a sense of loss when their kids get married but not getting along with your kids spouse will not help the situation. While we are on this subject Barney cutting off all ties with his family will not help Robin at all, especially because he said she was the reason (this show sometimes I swear…)

Quotes:
  •    “It’s just pizza” “…Just pizza?” (Daphne and Marshall)
  •    “I’m not cheating; don’t tell anyone. I’ll cut you in half.” (Barney)
  • “Are you sitting down?” “Well I’m in a car….” (Lily and Marshall)
  • “…But James seems really upset, but Robin’s going to be my wife, but James is my brother… but Robin lets me to sex to her…” (Barney)
  •  “He’s gotten very respectful at his fake listening.” (Ted)
  •  “Woman as your bride/groom I command you..” “We’ll go and give you guys some privacy.” “Do you want to take back that command you thing…” “Please can I.” (Barney, Lily and Robin)
  •   “I’m marrying Robin so I can be a part of a team….” (Barney)
  •  “I am always going to have your back, no matter what.” (Barney)
9.06: Knight Vision

Ted is the only single one as always, and wants to find a date for Barney and Robin’s wedding. He chooses from three potential prospects chosen by the soon to be married pair themselves. Meanwhile Barney and Robin naturally lie their way into a cute little church stealing the story of how Marshall and Lily met and using it as their own. Also as Marshall gets closer to Farhampton he and Daphne discuss how he will tell Lily about the job he’s ALREADY taken (bad move Eriksen). Let’s get discussing:

The Good:
  1. Daphne Prepares Marshall To Talk To Lily: As I admitted early on I was a little considered about this whole Daphne and Marshall storyline in the car driving from Minnesota to New York. Sometimes my point was proven and other times I was proven wrong and this week was one of those times. The bombshell was dropped that Marshall already took the judgeship job without talking to Lily, which might start their biggest fight ever since season 1 when Lily wanted to define herself outside of Marshall and left for San Francisco. I’m going to say I’m really excited, mostly because I live for couples and their angst, I was wired wrong upon birth guys I apologize. Marshall and Lily are the one couple you know will go the distance like my past favourite couple Nathan and Haley from One Tree Hill, they may have fought and broken up but you knew they were forever even though they were way younger. Marshall and Lily are the same way, this will be a big mountain to climb. I love that Daphne gave him hell for not preparing for this conversation that hopefully is a BIG conversation and is not just brushed under the rug.

  2. First Meeting Re-Enactments: When I saw the twitter picture of Cobie and Billy a few weeks ago I thought A: Robin Daggers is back or B: Robin as Lily from college. One of my predictions was right. The re-enactments of how the two couples met were perfect. The added make out in the Ted/Robin/Barney one was hilarious. Barney and Robin would steal Marshall and Lily’s cute story of destiny that’s what made it so great.

  3. Barney and Robin: Ugh these two, I think they make everything better. Even if an episode isn’t good they make it better. This week’s episode was really good so my love for them aside. I LOVED the prayer five and you could see Cobie trying not to break in that scene and Neil was so nonchalant he’s used to all the high fives by now. Robin not wanting to write her vows made me laugh because she is not your stereotypical girly girl, I kind of wish in season 8 we would have seen some of her not wanting to plan certain things for the wedding, you know she would have hated being at like a bridal show all day with Lily. In turn when the priest denied them the wedding, their vows basically wrote themselves when they gushed about how much they loved the fact that they found each-other. And the tears were shed… by most, or maybe just me.

The Whatever:

  1. Cassie: I was so pumped for Anna Camp to be on this show but DAMN Cassie was annoying, nobody wanted to be around her. Leave it to sweet and sensitive Ted to swoop in and try to fix her. I usually find myself yelling, “She’s on her way Ted and she’s getting here as fast as she can.” I just feel sad for the guy is all. Cassie is about to be around for a while and I’m dreading it. Anna I love you girl and it’s not your fault.

Quotes:
  • “Get stuck with the wrong girl tonight, the only action you’ll be getting all weekend is a self-five. And not the cool kind. Self-five. That’s the cool one.” (Barney)
  • “I helped, it was either that our writing our vows, gag me.” (Robin)
  • “What did I do wrong...? What did you do wrong?” (Lily)
  • “Your story is so sweet you didn’t even kiss til the third date, by our third date I’d hit more bases than Bob Hope on a USO tour.” (Barney)
  • “Come again for little fudge?” (Lily)
  • “My husband is a sociopath who slept with over a hundred women and I’m a slut who let my boss feel me up.” “Over 250 women.” “I felt him up.” (Lily, Barney and Robin)
  • “I love our story, sure it’s messy but it’s the story that got us here, about to get married.” “I love it too, every messy chapter.” (Barney and Robin)

This week’s episode was way better than last week, it wasn't a filler episode that did not move the plot, it certainly took big leaps forward. Last week’s certainly looks interesting; I will not judge an episode by a promo. I get screwed over that way. Until next week my friends.

New Girl: What The Schmidt Edition

Hello New Girl watchers I am back to catch you up on the past three episodes of one of my favourite comedies. This is the What The Schmidt? Edition because this boy needs to get his priorities straight and become a better person before he loses his best friends. Last night's episode was a bit better in terms of the Schmidt factor but the two episodes before left irrational anger let's dive into it now shall we:

3x03- Double Date
When a set of best friends is dating another set of best friends it is only natural that you go on double dates, the only problem is there is a 5th wheel and a unknown 6th wheel. The 5th wheel being poor Winston and the unknown 6th wheel in this case is Elizabeth but in the weeks before it was Cece because Schmidt cannot pick a woman to save his life and naturally it blows up in his face, as it should have.

  1. Oh Schmidt, Schmidt, Schmidt: If this character was not played by Max Greenfield I would want him voted off the island. Max plays the character so well it's hard to hate him, but bias opinions aside Schmidt is being the worst right now. When he couldn't choose between Cece and Elizabeth at the end of last season you know it would not end well for him, and he honestly deserved because cheating is wrong. I understand the part of him that didn't want to hurt either one of them but in the end he ended up destroying both of them. In Schmidt fashion he continues to avoid telling Cece and blames everything on Nick calling him the cheater. Nick was the first person he told everything so it kinda sucked when he turned around and back stabbed him like that, I understand he was scared but at some point he has to grow up and take responsibility for his actions. Cece and Elizabeth were completely devastated when they found out the truth and the audience is left wondering if they will ever forgive him. I have always been team Cece and Schmidt.. now strictly team Cece and I don't know if I want her to forgive him... at the moment he really does not deserve it. Schmidt has now decided to end Nick and Jess' happiness which is another thing I will get to... later.
  2. Winston Needs Somebody to Love:  If his love for his cat is not any proof that he needs somebody to love or even more importantly to strictly get laid. He tries his hardest to score a table for his friends to show them how much they mean to him. He's lonely and by doing everything for other people he somewhat fills the void that currently is within his heart. At least that's how I see it. Winston is one of the most under-appreciated and best characters who deserves more than what he is getting right now.
Quotes:
  • “How did I get so lucky, my bro and my hoe.” (Jess)
  • “I made a dance so everyone will be happy.” (Nick)
  • “Can you test my phone again?” “I can’t I ran out of minutes.” “MINUTES Minutes Nick who still uses minutes.” “I bought 10,000 in 1994 and I’m still using them.” (Jess and Nick).
  • “I have been banned for my lifetime from Lake Ontario.. don’t ask.” (Jess).
  • "I’m not convinced I know how to read I think I’ve just memorized a lot of words.” (Nick)

The episode overall was good the ending broke my heart, great acting shout out to Hannah Simone she always plays such a rock hard solid funny character it was great to see the emotional side of Cece as well. Hopefully Schmidt gets his "Schmidt" together soon.

3x04- The Captain
I love Nick and Jess but some parts of this episode were so uncomfortable, they are quirky and awkward which makes them loveable but some lines I cringe and am like say what now. This episode was all about Schmidt trying to sabotage others happiness because he's a little "Schmidt".

  1. The Little"Schmidt" Continues: And he continues to be a pain in everyone's re-end, oh Schmidty. He believes that if he cannot be happy nobody can be happy so that basically means Nick and Jess have to grow together to move past this. Schmidt in the episode gets into both of their heads trying to sabotage their relationship. He even goes to the extreme and cuts up their condoms and eats all Jess' birth control pills thinking that'll do the trick. He really needs to work on being a better person (segway to last night's episode).

  2. Nick and Jess Talk About Their Feelings: With Schmidt acting as the catalyst of a bomb ending their one month relationship Nick and Jess must learn to talk to each other. By talking it out they can avoid Schmidt being a little Schmidt. We know Nick does not like to talk about his feelings and Jess being the quite opposite leaves the audience wondering what makes them work. Well they can open up to each other ... eventually. Nick poured his feelings out to Jess telling her he really likes her which in the way he said it he loves her but it's only been a month so it's too fast. In time Ness shippers... in time it will come.
  3. Oh Winston: Winston does not pick up on subtly. His response to subtly are as superb as his pranks which .. suck. Nick and Jess joke with him about Ferguson needing to get laid and he thought they were being serious so he tried oh so very hard. Ferguson does not need to get laid Winston, you do. When he meets a gorgeous lady at the pet store, he doesn't pick up that she wants to jump in the sack with him... He goes about his business and attempts to mate their actual cats and not cats as a euphemism. I just want to wrap Winston up in a hug and tell him it'll get better.
Quotes:
  •  “Did you talk to tight pants and eyebrows?” (Nick).
  • “If we needed to talk about feelings they would be called talkings” (Nick).
  • “I really like you and it’s only been a month but I’m not afraid unless you’re doing the Captain and then I experience real fear.” (Nick)
  • “It’s raining celibacy hallelujah.” (Schmidt).
  • “There’s no way estrogen works that fast.” “You don’t know my body.” (Jess and Schmidt). “I’m like a nun and Nick’s my sexy monsieur.” (Jess).
  • “This last month has been the best month of my life.” (Jess)
Pretty good episode a little bit of uncomfortable moments here and there but I have experienced worse where I'm literally seeing red and cringing so... Shout out to the New Girl writing staff for the insinuation of Jess giving Nick a BJ but still keeping it acceptable for 9pm TV on FOX. Great work, I aspire to be you one day.
3x05- The Box
What's in the box? WHAT'S IN THE BOX? Seven... anybody. Sorry I quote movies a lot even in real life. When someone show's up with $8K for Nick from his late father, Nick decides to burn it all on useless stuff. He then puts the remaining cash in his box with all his unwanted stuff that being overdue bills, jury duty letters and unpaid parking tickets, you know the usual stuff..
  1. Nick and Jess' First Fight: You knew it had to happen sooner or later, they couldn't just stay in honeymoon bliss forever. As much as we all would have loved it, it's not realistic. Nick and money is always a sore subject so for this to the center of the first fight is not a surprise. Nick needs to grow up and realize that he is an adult and should be more money smart, Jess was completely right for trying to pay some of his bills. I do not know how he hasn't been taken to prison considering he hasn't paid his taxes, gotta love TV magic. He'd have the IRS breathing down his neck in real life but anyways, it was nice to see the resolution of this fight. Nick said he wasn't going to change for anyone which is a lie he would change for Jess and he did. He opened a bank account and is now going to save money. It's all about trust and compromise people.. at least that's the message I receive from TV and movies.

  2. Schmidt's Journey: Schmidt finally realizes he is selfish and tries to become a better person. He spend the entire episode trying to better himself. He talks to his Rabbi, gets beat up by some Rabbi's and saves a man's life. After saving the man's life he then showboats the experience instead of calling 911 but baby steps people.. I believe he will get there eventually. Until he becomes a better person and a less selfish one he has no chance getting Cece or Elizabeth back, if they are even possibilities at this point.. we do not know.
 Quotes:
  • "I cried during a techno song and my tweets have been extremely literal” (Schmidt)
  • “They’re my night nuts.” “What are you a zoo animal?” (Nick and Jess)
  • “I realized something…” “What?” “I’d do anything for you Jess.” (Nick and Jess)
I thought the episode was really good, sadly not so quotable, which is irrelevant. Anyways I'm glad Nick and Jess had their first real fight, they are out of the honeymoon stage and ready to tackle the real stuff. I am also happy to be back reviewing New Girl with you guys and I promise to try and stay as on top of it as I possibly can.
