New Girl: Keaton & Coach Reviews

Keaton
In a classic New Girl Halloween style episode which are always filled with interesting situations. The gang "catfish" Schmidt to make him smile, their intentions were in the right place but it turned ugly fast. Schmidt's mother had be sending him letters from Michael Keaton and Schmidt being the insecure little boy he was and sometimes still is believed the letters were real and would write back. In college Nick became Keaton, and this time around Nick AND Jess were Keaton.

Jess tries her hardest to make Schmidt feel better but fails miserably, when she drinks a lot and dresses up as Batman. Nick comes clean about Keaton and Schmidt is devastated, which might not even be the worst of it. Cece shows up to the party and sees Schmidt, Schmidt looks as if he's been run over by a pick up truck. I feel bad for him but he did bring it on to himself. Schmidt decides to move out of the loft and live alone... across the hall. So there's still a bit of hope.

Quotes:
  • "Was Winston's version shorter?" - Jess
  • "Oh my god, you've been cat fishing Schmidt." -Jess
  • "Would you listen to your woman voice for one minute?" "Well I'm not going to talk to him in a woman voice, I have a character." - Nick & Jess
  • "It's bat mobile." "That's what I said batman mobile." - Cece & Jess

Coach
In last night's episode Damon Wayans Jr. made his triumphant return as Coach who we have not seen since the Pilot. It was awesome to have him back, I loved him in the pilot and was kind of sad his other show was picked up forcing him to not be leave the show. However, Winston has been a fantastic addition so it turned out great. We found out he had just been dumped and was trying to fill the void by taking the gang minus Jess to a strip club for some shenanigans. He ends the night trying to pick a fight with his exes new boyfriend who is conveniently a cop. I read online that he's going to be sticking around for awhile or may even pop up every now and then which is fantastic.

Nick & Jess: These two had their moments of "oh no" and "aww". When Nick backed himself into a corner with Coach and said they had not defined as boyfriend and girlfriend Jess became extremely offended, as she should have. What I love most about these two is they have these little riffs and then go off alone with their friends and realize they were idiots and come back to each other. I was no nervous that the Artie thing was going to be a bigger deal than it actually was. I'm so happy it wasn't and that Nick and Jess trust each other enough to know the other would not cheat. These two together are such a strong pairing and I am hoping they don't have a messy break up and we have to wait another like 3 seasons until they end up together like most shows love doing.

Quotes:
  • "Make a wish." "I'm afraid to." - Miles & Jess
  • "Girls are replaceable, jobs are forever." - Winston
  • "Do you have any questions?" "Do you want me to have any questions?" - Jesss & Nick
I thought the episode last night was really good! I am hoping that Schmidt moves back into the loft and that he and Nick bury the hatchet. It's clear that Schmidt is miserable without his friends and has never felt more alone in his life. So hopefully this gets sorted out soon. I would like to thank the casting director for Taye Digg's cameo in the episode because DAMN. And that's pretty much it.
