How I Met Your Mother: No Questions Asked

Hello dear people who read this... if anyone still reads this. I might be talking to myself at this point but I allow creatively venting so I shall continue. After an unexpected hiatus I am back to review two episodes of himym in separate posts because last night's episode needs to be talked about in depth. But last Monday's episode was actually a present surprise it taught me not to judge an episode by it's promo video. I thought it was going to be a Halloween episode and considering I hate Halloween we were already off to a bad start but alas it was funny and quirky... sure it had some bad bits but it wasn't completely terrible.

At the end of the last episode Daphne texted Lily to tell her that Marshall had taken the judgeship without telling her. The entire episode centers around Marshall getting the people that he loves to do him a favour No Questions Asked... let's breakdown it down

No Questions Asked Concept: The concept was interesting I thought some of the no questions asked were extremely weird like Night Falcon ... or should I say Robin, what on earth was she doing in that alley with the purple spandex. Not that many were complaining about the attire because hello Cobie Smulders am I right? I thought Ted's was hilarious because at this point him locking himself in a mailbox seems as low as it gets... at least he knows he's ridiculous it's starting to sink in that his desperation to meet "the one" is extreme but she's on her way Ted. The only no questions asked I didn't like was Barney's but that's because I have a huge hate for toilet humor so that's that. I found it funny yet really weird that Marshall didn't call Ted first.. although he is bad in a crisis so maybe it does make a little sense. The fact that nobody listened to Marshall when he said the door was open was hilarious. At least Robin used the door... sort of.

Barney & Robin: The weirdest part about season 8 and season 9 with these two is the playbook took up so much of the season so when they did get married we never got to see them workout the stuff that tore them apart in the earlier seasons. We also didn't really get to see them plan and argue about the wedding, so here they are two days from saying I do and disagreeing about things that should have been worked out last season. Bringing up the breakup in s5 has a huge fan was like twisting the knife, Robin was right in everything she said though... they would always try to keep their independence and not become extremely coupley like Marshall and Lily for example, and in a marriage the people they were before just won't work. Of course these arguments do bring out the sweet moments in the end. The conversation they had in Lily's room was heartfelt and showed how together they can beat the odds and be the strong couple that many people STILL don't believe they can be. Sure they aren't the most functional couple but they bring out the best in each other and it's really awesome to watch.

Marshall & Lily: The faster Marshall gets to New York the happier everyone will be. This is being dragged out so long and it's one of the major reoccurring annoyances. Even if it is a holiday weekend you can not tell me there wouldn't be a flight to New York in ONE of the major states they pass through.. I mean please. The speech Marshall gave to Ted about not wanting to ask Lily anything no questions asked was so adorable. It's been so nice to have a stable couple through the nine seasons of the show minus like 8 episodes of S1/2 but it needed to happen so the characters could grow into who they are today. The only thing that threw me was the ending of the episode and how Lily reacted to him telling her the truth. I understand why she was mad I just think her response seemed a little OOC and you know they will have a big blowout if and when he ever gets there. We know Marshall becomes a judge because of the flashforwards in s6 and s8, I'm just intrigued to see how it plays out.

Quotes:
  • "Hey I was a man in need." "I know you were a priority male." - Ted and Marshall
  • "Oh God, the hookers here!" "Ted... I am not going to cheat on Robin but you're a hell of a best man for getting me one." - Ted and Barney
  • "I will use air ducts like the bad guy in Die Hard." "Barney, Bruce Willis is not the bad guy in Die Hard... that's not the point." - Barney and Marshall
  • "I am not paying for room service the hooker ordered." "... I've been there." - Lily and Barney
  • "You know maybe lone wolves can learn to work together." "I'd like to think so." - Barney and Robin
  • "Why do you have a gun? WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE A GUN?" - Ted
  • "No, Courtney Cove I already lost Kurt Coobain I can't lose you too." - Barney
  • "I never asked Lily anything no questions asked because.. I've never wanted to. She's the love of my life I never keep anything from her." - Marshall
Overall I thought this episode was pretty good there were some things that could have used some tweaking but it wasn't completely terrible. Let me know what you guys think and get ready for the big emotional Lighthouse review.
